meet the farmer florist.

Hello and welcome! My name is Hannah ~ I’m the farmer florist behind the screen. You may have met me at a local farmers market in our early days, or recognize me from a community event, whether it’s a booth at Free the Seeds, one of our workshops, or another creative space.

In 2020, I was just a sophomore when the entire world shut down overnight, and I quickly realized that the university admissions and future 9 to 5 I was chasing weren’t chasing me back. People often ask why I turned to flowers, and I can’t say exactly how it happened but my first tuber-turned-dahlia with layers of geometrically symmetrical petals dazzled me, and watching the first cracked bud of a poppy unfurl and transform into a delicate bloom enchanted me.

As I shared each new stem, I witnessed firsthand the joy cut flowers also brought to the people around me. While pursuing this new dream, I graduated with an A.S. in Business Administration from our local FVCC and have been able to grow Stumptown Floral in tandem with my skills for 5 years now. I’ve immensely enjoyed working with each of my customers, and have developed a special passion for wedding floristry in particular.

In the rare chance that I’m not at the farm with my trusty corgi farmhand Samwise, or delivering flowers in my equally-trusty old Toyota, you can find me escaping cell service and human interaction deep in the woods, my favorite fishing holes, or wandering a new trail. Or you can try to, anyway.

Who We Are

Stumptown Floral is situated on the outskirts of the Flathead Valley in Northwest Montana, only minutes away from Glacier National Park. “Stumptown” is a nod to my hometown of Whitefish, where my family runs generations deep with historical roots, particularly in the logging industry. My passion is cultivating in-this-moment natural beauty that only the freshest flowers can provide, and connecting customers of all walks with sustainably grown local blooms cultivated in harmony with the seasons- which can be quite the task in temperamental Montana.

We offer many unusual and fragile flowers that you just can’t find from the larger vendors. Think: foxglove, lisianthus, Iceland poppies, and dahlias! Having a local farmer-florist supply you with flowers means less shipping impacts, less stress on the blooms, and a much longer vase life. Our flower fields and tunnels are not heated; we grow in real time with the local microclimate. Using compost from our small herd of miniature Hereford cattle and practicing water-saving irrigation techniques, doing as much as we can to reuse materials and leave less of an impact- Stumptown Floral is a true American small farm.
